Abstract
PURPOSE: To hold a test piece and to fix a crosshead at the same time with simplicity and facility, by providing specially designed inclined guide surfaces for a wedge- type chuck.
CONSTITUTION: Inclined guide surfaces 8 and 9 of a wedge-type chuck 5 are composed of a couple of movable members 15 and 16 provided with surfaces 17 and 18 which are held in horizontally displaceable position on a supporting surface 14 formed on a crosshead 1 and also are respectively connected with supporting columns 2 and 3. By doing so, when a boat of a liquid pressure cylinder 10 is supplied with liquid pressure, test piece holders 6 and 7 of a chuck 5 are pressed down in vertical direction by a piston rod 11, and a test piece 4 is held by wedging functions of the test piece holders 8 and 9. And at the same time, when repulsions of the test piece holders 6 and 7 are given to the movable members 15 and 16, the movable members 15 and 16 are pressed horizontally toward the supporting columns 2 and 3, and the supporting columns 2 and 3 are tightened up by connecting surfaces 17 and 18 of the movable members 15 and 16, and then, the crosshead 1 is fixed rigidly on the supporting columns 2 and 3.
