Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the titled resin by using a polyether having halogenated benzene nucleus or phenol nucleus at one or more terminals as a modifier for plasticization, thereby imparting the resin with flame retardancy as well as plasticity.
CONSTITUTION: A resol-type phenolic resin (including a varnish) is compounded with pref. 10W200g/1mol of phenol, of a polyether having a halogenated benzene nucleus or halogenated phenol nucleus at one or more terminals, pref. of formula I [R1 and R2 are H or CH3;R3 is group of formula II(X is Cl or Br), or III; R4 is H or group of formula II or III].
EFFECT: The necessary amount of the flame retardant can be reduced, and the lowering of the impact strength of the laminated board made from the resin is small.
