Abstract

PURPOSE: A resin composition, suitable for a coating material, capable of giving a film or molded article having improved water resistance and adhesivity to a metal, curable or crosslinkable at normal temperature, and comprising an acetoacetyl group-containing polyester and an amino resin.
CONSTITUTION: A resin composition comprising (A) 99.8W50pts.wt. a polyester having an acetoacetyl group, particularly a polyester wherein 50W100% of the hydroxyl groups in the polyester-polyol having a hydroxyl number of 20W300 are acetylated, and (B) 0.2W50pts.wt. an amino resin, particularly a partly or completely etherified methylolmelamine, as a crosslinking agent. The polyester (A) is obtained by condesning a polyhydric alcohol with a polybasic acid, and by introducing an acetoacetyl group into the resulting high-polymer condensate. Preferably, the amounts of (A) and (B) are 90W60pts.wt. and 10W40pts.wt. respectively.
USE: A film, fiber, temporary coating, putty, gel forming agent or an adhesive in addition to a coating material.
