Abstract

PURPOSE: To prolong the life of a liquid-crystal display element having upper and lower substrates sealed at circumferential parts by organic adhesives, by reducing the contamination of lead wires by making the lead wire pattern width of a transparent conductive film electrode of a sealed part thinner than that of any other part.
CONSTITUTION: Lead wires from transparent electrode patterns 3 of internal surfaces of upper glass substrate 1 and lower glass substrate 2 are formed like narrow- width wire patterns 3a and 3b at the part of organic adhesive 4 at each substrate circumferential part. Consequently, the probabilities that a breakaway due to contamination caued by the reaction of the lead wire on adhesives 4 occurs and the contaminant contaminates electrodes are reduced greatly. Thus, the life of the element is prolonged.
