Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the magnetic characteristic, reliability, and mass productivity, by coating a reflective layer on the metal magnetic medium and by applying polysilicate on this reflective layer.
CONSTITUTION: Metal magnetic thin film medium 3 is coated on mirror-polished gound material 2 on base 1, and next, reflective layer 4 consisting of Ag, Au or Cu is provided by plating etc, and polysilicate is coated on layer 4, and the laser beam is irradiated to calcine this polysilicate to obtain protective film 5. Thus, a high temperature gradient is generated between the polysilicate and the metal magnetic thin film by the higher energy density of the laser beam, the laser beam absorption characteristic of the polysilicate, and the high laser beam reflectance of the reflective layer, and oxidation of the polysilicate and magnetization of the ground material or degradation of the magnetic characteristic of the metal magnetic thin film prevented and mass productivity is enhanced by reduction of the irradiation time.
