Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve transparency, heat resistance, mechanical properties, etc. of a methacrylate resin compsn. by mixing a terpolymer composed of methyl methacrylate, α-methylstyrene and acrylonitrile with a methacrylate polymer.
CONSTITUTION: 99W10wt% terpolymer (A) composed of 20W65wt% methyl methacrylate, 20W60wt% α-methylstyrene and 5W40wt% acrylonitrile, is mixed with 1W90wt% methacrylate polymer (B) contg. at least 80wt% methyl methacrylate to obtain the desired methacrylate resin compsn. having excellent heat resistance. Though the refractive index of the polymer (A) is different from that of the polymer (B), the titled compsn. has excellent transparency and heat resistance, and characteristics such as mechanical properties and moldability of the compsn. and the coloration of molded articles are well balanced.
