Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the titled composition having high transparency and heat resistance, by blending a specific styrene resin, methyl methacrylate resin and glass fibers in molten state mechanically.
CONSTITUTION: 20W80wt% (calculated as resin) styrene copolymer resin consisting of 85W95wt% styrene and 5W15wt% α,β unsaturated mono- or dicaboxylic acid anhydride, preferably styrene acrylic acid copolymer, is blended with 80W20wt% (calculated as resin) methyl methacrylate resin selected from a single polymer of methyl methacrylate, a copolymer consisting essentially of methyl methacrylate, preferably copolymer of methyl methacrylate and styrene, etc. in molten state mechanically to give a transparent mixture, which is blended with 5W60wt% based on total weight of composition glass fibers with their surfaces treated having length not shorter than 0.5mm and diameters 5W50μ.
