Abstract

CONSTITUTION: A substance having interferon inducing activities is extracted from Chinese herbal remedies, e.g., Cnidium, Bupleurum root, Angelica glabra Makino root, Angelicae Dahuricae Radix, Atractylodis Phizoma, Sophora angustifolia root, Astragali Radix, Polygale, bud of Lonicera japanica Sieb. et Zucc., Black cohosh root, Rhuharb, Gastrodiae Tuber, Asparagi Radix, Pinelliae Tuber, Sinomenium acutum Rehder et Wilson root, plantain seed, Ginseng, etc. To an aqueous solution of the extract is added a hydrophilic organic solvent, ammonium salt, or inorganic metal salt, to give a precipitate containing a substance having interferon inducing activities. The prepared precipitate is purified further, if necessary. It is obtained as an unstable while powder.
