Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound useful as an intermediate for water-soluble dyes in high yield and selectivity, by reacting diazotized anilinesulfonic acid with a disulfonic acid compound in the presence of a small amount of thiourea under specific conditions.
CONSTITUTION: Diazotized anilinesulfonic acid is coupled with 1-amino-8-naphthol- 3,6-disulfonic acid (H acid) at pH 0W3 and 30°C or below to give the titled compound. In the reaction, thiourea as a coupling accelerator is added in an amount of 0.1W5mol/mol the H acid. The addition of a surfactant provides a better result. Thus, a very small amount of the thiourea gives the titled compound of high quality scarcely containing the unreacted H acid and by-products in a short time.
