Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare a painting pigment having excellent film properties and suitable for the coloring of paint and plastic article, by forming a colored interference film exibiting antique color on the surface of metal powder particles.
CONSTITUTION: Metal powder having an average particle diameter of ≤5μm (pref. composed mainly of copper or copper alloy) is added to a chemical conversion liquid (e.g. 10% aqueous solution of potassium sulfide), and subjected to the immersion treatment to obtain the objective painting pigment.
USE: It can be applied widely to the secondary applications such as art objects, building materials, furniture, household appliances, etc. made of plastics.
