Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled ink jet recorder capable of detecting the abnormal ink discharge with ease, by arranging detection electrodes in the path of ink droplets, the detection electrodes having a clearance that does not permit the passage of the ink droplets when abnormal ink discharge has occured, and generating an abnormality alarm depending on the adhesion of the ink droplets onto the electrodes. CONSTITUTION:In the path of the ink droplets extending from a recording head 1 to an object 5 whereon recording will be performed, are arranged the discharge abnormality detection electrodes 6 having a clearance that can prevent the passage of the ink droplets when abnormal ink discharge has occured, and an abnormality alarm generator 8, which is actuated by the adhesion of the ink droplets onto the electrodes 6, and a discharge abnormality detection apparatus 7 are provided. When discharge abnormality is detected, the abnormality alarm generator 8 is driven to make a sound so that the discharge abnormality is notified.
