Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the captioned paper feeder in which the manufacture cost can be reduced, by connecting a paper feeding member drivingly to a platen so that a driving apparatus for driving the platen can also drive the paper feed.
CONSTITUTION: A bearing shaft 21 securely supporting a driven gear 20 that is meshed with a platen gear 19 secured to a platen shaft 5 is rotatably beared by opposite side plates 2. A belt 25 is reeved over a pulley 23 beared by the bearing shaft 21 and a second pulley 24 securely supported by a shaft 17 of a paper feeding roller 16. The arrangement is constituted such that the driven gear 20 and the pulley 23 can be selectively connected or disconnected by a clutch 22 or alternatively that a clutch is provided to the shaft 17 to selectively disengage the paper feeding roller 16 from the pulley 24.
