Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare the titled emulsion having excellent water-resistance and heat-resistance of adhesivity, and excellent storability, by copolymerizing vinyl acetate with a small amount of an acrylamide derivative in the presence of a specific emulsifying agent.
CONSTITUTION: Vinyl acetate is copolymerized with 1W10wt%, based on vinyl acetate, of an acrylamide devivative (e.g. N-ethanol acrylamide) using an emulsifying agent prepared by reacting protective collied composed mainly of a water- solubel polymer (e.g. polyvinyl alcohol having a degree of saponification of 88W91) with 0.1W1.0wt%, based on vinyl acetate, of acrylic acid or its derivative. It is preferable to add a pH buffering agent (e.g. sodium acetate) in the course of copolymerization in 2W5 times.
