Abstract
PURPOSE: To lengthen the cream time a little and to obtain titled polymer having good moldability and properties by a one-shot foaming, by employing a compound derived from a specified amino acid as a polymerization catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: An organic polyisocyanate such as tolylene diisocyanate or diphenylmethane diisocyanate, is polymerized by using, as a polymerization catalyst, at least one member selected from compounds of formula I and II, wherein R1 and R2 are each a 1W18C alkyl or hydroxyalkyl, n is 0W6, M is an alkali metal and a group of formula III is a cyclic amine, for example, a group of formula IV or V. As compared with the case where a β-alanine derivative or a potassium γ-tert-amino- propionate is used, a somewhat longer cream time is obtained and therefore one-shot foaming becomes possible. Accordingly, it becomes possible to produce an organic polyisocyanate polymer having good molability and properties under conditions of improved operability.
