Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the cracking during use and to enhance the wear resistance by adding a specified amount of C, Si, Mn, Cr, W and V to steel and providing a fine pearlite structure and a specified Vickers hardness.
CONSTITUTION: The composition of a pump lever for a pile hammer is adjusted to, by wt., 0.4W0.55% C, 0.6W1.6% Si, 0.3W0.6% Mn, 1W1.5% Cr, 2W3.5% W, 0.08W0.3% V and the balance Fe with impurities. A lever worked from steel products having the composition is heated to 900W950°C, hardened from the temp., tempered at 450W500°C, and air-cooled to provide a practically fine pearlite structure and 500W560 Vickers hardness.
