Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable to analyze even low volatile sample without heating and to use a solvent with low electroconductivity, by setting up an electroconductive nozzle in liquid chromatographic apparatus (LCG) to mixing an electrolytic solution in a outlet flow of liquid between the nozzle and LCG. CONSTITUTION:A outlet flow from LCG4 is brought to a metallic nozzle 1 that pass through a flange of ion source. An electrolytic solution 8 (solution of NaH2PO4, HCl, NaOH, etc.) is brought to mixing section 5 through a line 7 to increase the electroconductivity in case of using an organic solvent with low electroconductivity for an eluate of LCG. An excess mixed solution is drained off through a dischange pipe 9 at a splitter section 6. A cathode 2 of a mass spectrometer (MS) is arranged gaginst the nozzle 1. Negative electric potential of about 2kV is impressed to the cathode 2 from an electric power source 13 and positive electric potential of about 8kV is impressed to the nozzle 1 from an electric power source 12, then a suitable electric potential is impressed on an ion source lens system 15. Thus ion is emitted from the top of the nozzle 1, and the out let flow from the LCG is ionized to analyse continuouslly and surely without heating the liquid, accordingly without plugging the piping and the nozzle.
