Abstract

PURPOSE:To contrive to enhance the heating efficiency and energy conservation by utilizing the oxygen generated at an anode as combustion air for a drying oven, in a cationic electrodeposition coating. CONSTITUTION:Oxygen is generated at a metal plate 15 provided in an electrodeposition coating tank 2 as the anode for conducting the electrodeposition coating. The oxygen is prevented from dispersing into the electrodepositing liquid by a diaphragm protruding above the liquid level and enclosing the metal plate 15, and is trapped at a trapping duct 11 when flowing under the suction of a fan 14. On the other hand, a burner 8 supplying hot air into the drying oven 1 is provided with a fuel pipe 9 for feeding a fuel and a duct 10 for feeding air, to which the trapping duct 11 is connected. An oxygen concentration detector 12 detects the amount of oxygen required for combustion, feeds a signal to a damper 13 so as to adjust the amount of the outside air flowing in via the duct 10, and feeds the required amount of oxygen from the trapping duct 11 to the burner 8.
