Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve light stability without necessitating catalyst removal, by compounding a polyolefin contg. a residual vanadium catalyst with a benzoate deriv. and a piperidine compd.
CONSTITUTION: 100pts wt polyolefin such as PE or PP which is prepd. by polymn. using a vanadium catalyst and contains an unused catalyst, is compounded with 0.001W1pts wt benzoate deriv. such as resorcinol monobenzoate or 2.4-di-tert-butyl phenyl 3.5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxybenzoate and 0.005W1pts wt piperidine compd. such as 4-benzolyoxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-piperidine. Thus light stability is improved without removal of the catalyst.
