Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the reduction in efficiency of a turbocharger when releasing exhaust gas by connecting a relief valve to a sub-muffler provided separately from a muffler in a supercharger having the relief valve which serves as to release exhaust gas when boost pressure exceeds a given level.
CONSTITUTION: When applied to a motorcycle, a relief valve 14 is provided on the upstream side of a turbocharger 2 in a pipe member 6 connected to an exhaust pipe. A primary and secondary flow path 15, 16 of the relief valve 14 are formed to be closed or opened by a valve member 17. More specifically, a diaphragm 18 is connected to the end of a valve shaft 17a of the valve member 17 and boost pressure is introduced into the diaphragm chamber 19 through a pipe 20, so that the valve member 17 is opened when the boost pressure exceeds a given level, thereby to release exhaust gas. At this time, the secondary flow path 17 of the relief valve 14 si communicated with a sub-muffler 23 through a pipe 22, so that exhaust gas is released to the atmosphere through the sub-muffler 23.
