Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled modified copolymer having low gelation, a large amount of acid addition, and improved adhesiveness, by adding rubber to an unsaturated carboxylic acid which is grafted onto a noncrystalline copolymer of ethylene with other α-olefin.
CONSTITUTION: (A) 100pts.wt. noncrystalline copolymer of ethylene with other α- olefin (preferably propylene, etc.) is blended with (B) preferably 0.3W5pts.wt. rubber (preferably having an unsaturated bond), (C) 1W15pts.wt. unsaturated carboxylic acid (derivative) (most preferably maleic anhydride), and (D) 0.005W2pts.wt. radical generator (e.g., organic peroxide, e.g., benzoyl peroxide, etc.) and reacted usually at 60W 300°C, to give the desired modified copolymer. A component A having an ethylene unit of especially 50W80wt% is preferable as the component A.
