Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare the titled substance useful as an intermediate of pharmaceuticals, etc., safely, in high yield, in one step , by using a magnesium complex of an acetoacetic acid lower alkyl ester as a raw material, and reacting with a 2,2-dimethylpropionic acid halide.
CONSTITUTION: The objective compound is prepared by reacting magnesium complex or calcium complex of an acetoacetic acid lower alkyl ester with a 2,2-dimethylpropionic acid halide in an inert solvent such as hexane. The amount of the complex is ≥0.5mol, pref. 1.0W1.5mol/mol of the 2,2-dimethylpripionic acid halide. The complex can be prepared by reacting an acetoacetic acid lower alkyl ester with oxide or hydroxide of magnesium or calcium.
