Abstract
PURPOSE: To granulate and recover coal particles with a low power consumption in a short time, by mixing an aqueous slurry of coal with heavy oil and a granulating agent to form mixed pellets of the coal particles with the heavy oil, and separating the mixed pellets from waste water in a solid liquid separator.
CONSTITUTION: An aqueous slurry containing 40W50wt% coal on the dry basis, heavy oil in an amount of preferably 10W15wt%, based on the coal on the dry basis and a granulating agent, e.g. various surfactants, in an amount of preferably 0.05W2.0wt% are fed from the respective feed pipes 3, 4 and 5 to a mixing tank 1 having agitating blades 2, and fully mixed with the turbulant flow agitation. The resultant mixture is then fed through a discharge pipe 6 and taking out pump 7 to the second granulator 10 having agitating blades 8 and agitated to form mixed pellets of the coal particles with the heavy oil. The resultant pellets are fed to a solid-liquid separator 12, e.g. a vibrating screen, to separate the mixed pellets from waste water containing ash and recover the mixed pellets.
