Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a data recording member capable of recording by means of an energy beam of low output as well as stable to moisture and oxygen in the atmospheric air, by a method wherein a recording film is formed by using tellurium, oxygen and nitrogen as principal components. CONSTITUTION:A substrate 21 (glass sheet, plastic sheet or the like) is disposed in a plasma generator. After the plasma generator is once exhausted, H2O gas and N2 gas having a given pressure are introduced therein. Then, plasma is generated in order to sputter a target of metallic Te, thereby to form a recording film 22 comprising tellurium, oxygen and nitrogen (e.g., such a chemical composition as Te40O56N4) on the substrate 21 to obtain a data recording member.
