Abstract
PURPOSE: A reaction product between a vinyl addition polymerization copolymer and ammonia is used as a primer and a hydrolyzate of a silane compound is used as a facing to produce the titled moldings with high surface hardness, wearng resistance, and adhesion.
CONSTITUTION: Plastic moldings such as polycarbonate moldings are coated, as a primer, with (A) a polymer of 1W30 amine value resulting from the reaction between 100pts.wt. of a glycidyl group-containing vinyl addition polymerization copolymer such as methyl methacrylate-glcidyl methacrylate copolymer, (B) 2W15pts. aqueous ammonia and 0.005W0.5pts. a catalyst such as methylamine, then heat treated, and coated, as a facing, with (B) a composition consisting 5W30wt% a hydrolyzate of organotrialkoxysilane such as methyltrimethoxysilane hydrolyzate, less than 70wt% colloidal silica dispersion and 0.05W1% sodium acetate and heat treated.
