PURPOSE:To produce display cells inexpensively in good yields by sticking together sheets of single glass substrates which are not flat plates on a flat-plate-like glass substrate having display electrode patterns that can be parted to plural sheets then parting these to plural sheets. CONSTITUTION:Prescribed display electrode patterns consisting of transparent conductive electrode films 12, EC display layers 13, and transparent insulation films 14 are formed on a flat-plate-like glass substrate 11 which can be parted to plural sheets, and plural sheets of single glass substrates 15 which are not flat plates and are stuck with background plates 19 and counter electrodes 16 respectively opposite to plural sheets of the substrates 11 to be parted are disposed. The films 12 and the substrates 15 are stuck together by means of sealants 17. Next, compositions 18 for displaying are injected into the clearances between the substrates 11, 15 and plural pieces of display cells are formed in one body after which the substrate 11 is parted at the slicing positions shown by arrows, whereby plural pieces of display cells are obtained.
