PURPOSE:To prepare an electrophotographic photoconductive layer capable of exhibiting constant potential characteristics independent of the length of the storage time of a coating liquid, by coating a mixture obtained by mixing photoconductor particles and a binder resin under a reduced pressure to form the photoconductive layer. CONSTITUTION:A vessel 4 containing photoconductor particles 5, such as ZnO or Se is arranged in an evacuable vessel 3, and the inside of the vessel 3 is evacuated to <=100mm.Hg by driving a vaccum pump 7.
