Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance charge retentivitiy, photosensitivity, moisture resistance, etc., by forming a photoconductive layer made of a amorphous silicon containing at least either of hydrogen or halogen element in a specified layer structure. CONSTITUTION:The photoconductive layer 104 of an electrophotographic image forming part 100 is formed by providing a first semiconductor laye 102 made of amorphous silicon alpha-Si(H,X), and on this layer, a second semiconductor layer 103 exhibiting a conduction type different from the layer 102 and being finely divided in the layer direction. The depth of recesses is controlled so as at least to reach the depletion layer produced in the junction face of the layers 102 and 103, thus permitting light to be incident near the depletion layer 105, therefore, deterioration of sensitivity to occur not so much, and the protuberances to be effectively charged by corona discharge in the electrophotographic image forming member obtained.
