Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare a low-toxic cardiotonic agent having positively inotropic activity and coronary blood stream increasing activity, and useful as remedy for the cardiac diseases such as congestive heart, by using a carbostyril derivative including novel compound as an active component.
CONSTITUTION: A cardiotonic agent containing a carbostyril derivative of formula 1 (R is H, lower alkyl, etc.; A is lower alkylene; X is halogen; the C-C bond between the 3-and the 4-positions of the carbostryril skeleton is single or double), e.g. 6-(3-pyridiniumpropoxy)-3,4-dihydrocarbostyril bromide, as an active component. The compound has excellent positively inotropic activity and coronary blood stream increasing activity, and extremely weak effect to the increase in heart rate. The compound of formula 1 can be obtained by reacting the compound of formula 2 with the compound of formula 3 (X' is halogen, etc.), and then reacting the resultant compound of formula 4 with the compound of formula 5.
