Abstract

PURPOSE: To form a carved design efficiently on the surface of the polygonal cylindrical member made of glass, a metal or wood by a method wherein a photosensitive resin layer is coated on the surface of the cylindrical member, light is applied on the surface after attaching a negative film thereto and an abrasive material is injected upon the surface from a nozzle.
CONSTITUTION: The photo-sensitive resin layer 2 is formed on the surface of the polygonal cylindrical member 1. The negative film 5 having a design pattern theron is attached to the surface of the cylindrical member 1 and the light 6 of predetermined luminosity is applied on the negative film to thereby form a hardened resin layer 7. Then, the abrasive material consisting of glass beads or scale beads is injected upon the negative film from the nozzle 10 to obtain the carved design. As the photo-sensitive material, polyvinyl alcoholic cinnamic acid ester or the like is used to form a coating on the surface of the member to a thickness of about 0.3mm.
