Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect the peeling of fluorescent coating reliably with high speed and to enable mass-production, by photographying the bulb detection surface in stripe along the tube axis by means of a photographying mechanism then rotating and moving the bulb and the photographying mechanism relatively. CONSTITUTION:Both ends of a bulb 1 having inner surface coated with white fluorescent coating 2 is supported horizontally by a supporter 3 and made rotatable intermittently in circumferential direction by a pulse motor 4. A pair of light source 5 such as high pressure mercury lamp for irradiating the visible light onto the detection surface of the bulb are located at both end sides along the tube axis above said bulb 1. A photographying mechanism 6 comprising a lens 8 for focusing the reflection light from a photographying sensor 7 and the detection surface is located above the central portion along the tube axis of said detection surface. Consequently the abnormality on the surface of bulb can be detected reliably and easily.
