Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the surface activity of a thermoplastic synthetic resin molded article, and to increase its affinity to paint, printing ink, etc., by treating the article with a low-temperature plasma of a mixed gas containing specific amounts of oxygen and nitrogen.
CONSTITUTION: The surface treatment of a thermoplastic synthetic resin molded article[an article obtained by e.g. injection molding of a thermoplastic synthetic resin (e.g. polyethylene) optionally compounded with an inorganic filler (e.g. talc), an antioxidant, a UV-absorber, a colorant, etc.]is carried out by the plasma treatment (radio-frequency discharge under the pressure of about 0.1W10mmHg to activate the gas molecules) of the article with a mixed gas containing 25W80 (vol)% oxygen and 75W20% nitrogen for about 10secW5min.
USE: The surface-treated article can be subjected to the coating, printing, bounding, metallizing, chemical plating, etc. directly or after washing with a solvent.
