Abstract

PURPOSE:To set a printing form for a printer at the 1st character print line automatically, by providing a mechanism which detects a discriminator provided to detect the 1st character print line of the printing form for the line printer. CONSTITUTION:A printing form 31 for a line printer is perforated to have a discrimination hole 311 which enables an optical readout for the 1st character print detection of the printing form. An optical readout mechanism part 12 consists of a light emission part 121 and a photodetection part 12 and trnasmits a signal, showing variation in light due to the discriminated discrimination hole 311, to a hole recognizing circuit part through an amplifier to be sent to the control part of the line printer. Then, line feed, etc., is performed autmatically to set the printing form 31 at the 1st character print line.
