Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 本発明は、喫煙装置に関し、特に喫煙中のニコチンの損
失を防止し、かつ有害な化合物を吸入しないようにする
喫煙装置に関する。
多《の人々が何故に通常の紙巻タバコを吸うかという理
由の中には、彼らがニコチンを含有する煙霧質を吸入す
ることを希望するという事実がある。
しかし、かような紙巻タバコを吸うときには熱分解によ
ってまたタバコを吹かしていない《ずぶっているときに
流出して若干のニコチンが失なわれるだけでな《、また
そのほか、一酸化炭素などの有害化合物がまた吸い込ま
れる。
本発明は、上記の欠点が少なくとも実質的に回避される
喫煙装置を提供するものである。
上記の欠へを避ける目的で以前に提案された喫煙装置は
、シー・ディー・エリス氏他の米国特許第３３５６０９
４号明細書に記載されている。
これは、その一端部に吸い口を持ったタバコの形状の管
を持っている。
このタバコの内部には熱で壊れやすい材料の軸方向の内
側管が含まれ、その内側表面はニコチンなどの添加材料
で被覆されている。
従って、喫煙するときに、熱ガスは内側管内を吸い上げ
られて煙霧状のニコチンを放出して喫煙者によって吸い
込まれる。
しかし、この装置では、くすぶっている間にニコチンや
香味料などの他の好ましい化合物の相当量が失なわれる
。
また、喫煙中にその燃焼端部から見っともなく内側管が
突出する傾向がある。
本発明による喫煙装置は、喫煙者の口の中に煙霧質を放
出するための紙巻タバコ擬似喫煙装置であって、下記の
構成を持っている。
（ａ）長さ方向に延びた貫通通路を持つ燃料の棒、（ｂ
）前記連路の端部とガス連通して、喫煙時に熱ガスが燃
焼する燃料棒から入る室、 （ｅ）前記室の中に位置し、喫煙中に熱ガスが接触した
ときに、喫煙者によって吸入されるための煙霧質を形成
する吸入剤材料、 （ｄ）前記室は、煙霧質を透過する吸い口閉鎖部材を燃
料棒から遠い方の端部に持っている。
室と吸い口閉鎖部材とは、好ましくは単一の構造であっ
て、吸入剤材料を室に含ませるために通常の煙フィルタ
栓を成形または押出すことによって形成されることがで
きる。
好まし《は、燃料棒は、再生タバコおよび／またはタバ
コ代用品の成形体または押出品である。
燃料棒の壁部は、好ましくは空気に対して不透過性であ
る。
吸入剤材料は、ニコチン源材料または噴霧乾燥した香味
料顆粒を含むことができ、この香味材料の組成は、４０
〜７０重量％のアラビアゴム（ｇｕｍ ａｃａｃｉａ）
または変性澱粉中に包封された、トリアセチンまたは安
息香酸ベンジル中の香味料溶液３０〜６０重量％の範囲
にある。
この吸入剤材料は、更にゼラチンおよびアラビアゴムの
混合物中の香味料５０〜８０重量％を有する、微小カプ
セルを持つことができ、このカプセルはコアセルベーシ
ョン法によって形成されうる。
好ましくは、点火されるべき燃料棒の端部は、可燃部材
によって閉鎖される。
以下、添付図面を参照して本発明を例示的に説明する。
第１図に示す喫煙装置は、タバコまたはタバコ代用品で
押出され、または成形されたほぼ円柱状の燃料棒１１を
有する。
かようなタバコ代用品の一例は、本出願人らの英国特許
第１１１３９７９号明細書に記載されているものである
。
軸方向の通路１２は、燃料棒１１の長さにわたり延びて
いる。
棒１１の壁は、空気をほとんど透過しないので、端部に
火をつけたときに、燃焼中に生じる湿った熱ガス流は、
喫煙中に煙霧質準備室１４に向って通路１２を通過する
ように局限される。
この装置の燃料棒から遠い方の端部に通常の繊維素紙の
フィルタ吸い口が設けられる。
このフィルタは、好ましくは実用できる程度に短か《す
る。
何となればその目的は室１４の端部を閉じるだけである
からである。
室１４は、円筒体１５を有し、それは酢酸繊維素または
紙などの空気を透過しない繊維素材料で形成される。
室１４内に含まれた煙霧質準備（または吸入剤）材料は
、１６〜５２メッシュ大のアラビアゴムの熱破壊顆粒状
の微小包封された揮発性香味料溶液を含んでいる。
使用に際しては、燃料棒の端部に点火したときに、喫煙
者がタバコを吹かすとき空気は装置を軸方向に流れる。
通路１２に入る空気は、燃焼している棒を通って、燃焼
棒から出る燃焼ガスによって混合加熱される。
この熱ガス流は、通路１２を通り、準備材料の顆粒の間
を通って、フィルタ吸い口１３を通って喫煙者の口の中
に吸い込まれる。
準備材料を通過する熱ガス流は、微小カプセルを破壊し
、香味料の煙霧質を形成する揮発性溶液を解放する。
このようにして、喫煙者は、装置を吸うたびに有毒化合
物をほとんど含まない香味料の煙霧質を吸入する。
この装置は例えば全長７０ｍｍであり、直径７ｍｍ、通
路１２の直径２．２ｍｍである。
第２図に示す実施例は、第１図に示したものと全体的に
類似しているけれども、煙霧質準備室１４の設計が相違
している。
この実施例では、室１４とフィルタ吸い口１３は次のよ
うに一体装置として形成される。
通常の酢酸繊維素のフィルタ吸い口は、熱成形棒を挿入
することによって一端部に成形された室１４を持ってい
る。
そして、噴霧乾燥粉末の形態の吸入剤材料を室１４の中
に注入する。
この材料は、室の中に保持されるための接着性が不十分
であるので、室と燃料棒１１との間に空気多孔円板１６
が設けられる。
通路１２を閉鎖するために燃料棒の開口端部１０に位置
する町燃栓１７は、棒の点火をむしろ助け、かつこの装
置を通常の紙巻タバコに似せることを助ける。
この栓１７は、燃料棒と同一材料で形成される。
この栓１７は、また燃料棒１１の断面と同面積を持つ円
板の形状を持ってもよい。
使用時には、いづれの実施例の喫煙装置も、燃料棒の温
度は８００℃程度であって、吸入剤材料における空気混
合流の温度は、この装置の喫煙中に１３０℃と１５０℃
との間で変化する。
第３図は、喫煙装置の更に他の実施例を示し、これはま
た煙霧質室１４の設計が相違している。
室１４は、酢酸繊維素で成形された円筒１９を有し、そ
れは繊維素紙フィルタ１３によって吸い口を閉鎖されて
いる。
燃料棒１１の端部付近に、室１４は香味料を含む噴霧乾
燥したアラビアゴム微小カプセルで成形された環状カー
トリッジ２０を含む。
この環状カートリッジ２０は、燃料棒１１内の軸通路１
２に連結する管状通路２１を画成する。
室１４の残余部分は、煙霧質混合室２２を形成する。
使用時には、熱い湿ったガスは、通路２１を通って通路
２１に入り、微小カプセルの上を流れて、それらを破壊
させて香味料を放出させる。
香味料を含んだガスは混合室２２に人って、そこで膨脹
して混合し、均等に煙霧質を分散させる。
第４図は、準備室１４の他の実施例の断面を示す。
繊維素材料１８は、図示の断面を持つ長さに押出される
。
この押出動作中に、香味料含有材料の或る長さは同時に
外側押出部の長さに軸方向に押出される。
そして、その結果得られた押出成形品は、短かい長さに
切断され、その各々は一体的の煙霧質準備室を形成する
。
第３図に示した以外の断面を使用して差支ない。
また、香味料含有材料は準備室１４に別個に加えてもよ
いことは、もちろんである。
以上説明した喫煙装置の性能を評価するために、多くの
実験を行なって、喫煙中に香味料が本流の煙霧質内に入
る量を測定した。
トリアセチンとヘキサデカンがニフチンの代りに選ばれ
た。
それはこれらの化合物はニコチンに類似して挙動するが
実験的に検出することが比較的容易であるからである。
試験は、２秒間の１服と、毎分３５ｍｌ容積の正常な喫
煙基準を使用した。
第１図の実施例によって行なわれた試験はアラビアゴム
に噴霧乾燥したトリアセチンを使用した。
粒子はふるい分けして、１６〜５２メッシュ大のものだ
けが使用された。
本流の煙霧質中へのトリアセチン移動は、０，５７乃至
１．１７ｍ９であった。
トリアセチンの代りにニコチンを使用して試験をした場
合は、移動量は０．７７ｍｇであった。
第２図の実施例を使用した試験を行ない、香味料含有材
料は前の試験と同一のものを使用した。
この実施例ではトリアセチンの移動は、０．９乃至１．
８５ｍ９であった。
最後に、第３図の実施例が試験される。
この実施例では、香味料を擬似するためにヘキサデカン
が使用された。
本流の煙霧質中ヘの移動量は、０．８３ｇであった。
いづれの実施例の燃料棒１１も、その周囲に通常の紙巻
タバコの紙を巻いた。
棒は、タバコ代用材料と、炭素または他の適当な可燃材
料例えば木質パルプ、わらおよび熱処理した繊維素また
はＳＣＭＣと炭素の混合物などとの混合物で形成されて
もよい。
第３図の煙霧質室１４は、一縁部に沿って香味料含有材
料の帯を付着した酢酸繊維素の四角片で準備することも
できることは理解される。
この四角片は管を形成するように巻かれて、当接縁部を
接合してもよい。
巻回の結果として、香味料含有材料の帯は第３図の環状
となる。
煙霧質材料は、香味料溶液の変形として、トリアセチン
または安息香酸ベンジル中に香味料および／またはニコ
チンの溶液を含んでいてもよい。
エフエドリンまたはニコチン／エフエドリン混合物など
の任意の精神活性または生埋学的活性の仕合物は、緩和
剤、平滑剤または回復剤として使注されてよい。
吸入剤材料は、噴霧乾燥した粉末に包封されたニコチン
を含むことができる。
或は、このニコチンは、ポリウレタンなどの熱可塑性材
料の膨脹基体内に包封されてもよい。
吸入剤または香味料含有材料は、ニコチン源利料または
噴霧乾燥した香味料顆粒を含むことができ、この香味料
顆粒の組成は、アラビアゴムまたは変性澱粉の１０〜７
０％好ましくは４０〜７０重量％中に包封されたトリア
セチンまたは安息香酸ベンジル中の１０〜１００％好ま
しくは３０〜６０重量％の香味料溶液である。
この吸入剤材料は、更にコアセルベーション法（ｃｏａ
ｃｅｒｖａｔｉｏｎ ｍｅｔｈｏｄ）によって形成され
た微小カプセルを含むことができ、このカプセルは、ア
ラビアゴム、ゼラチンまたはそれらの混合物に重量で１
０〜９０％好ましくは５０〜８０重量％の香味料を含ん
でいる。
アラビアゴムの代品として、香味料含有材料はゼラチン
を含むことができる。
燃料棒は、例えばクエン酸カリウムなどの燃焼調節材料
で含浸してもよい。
燃料棒はまた喫煙時に放出される香料で含浸してもよい
。
吸入剤材料が噴霧乾燥した粉末を含む場合には、空気多
孔円板１６を設ける必要は、粉末を室１４の中に注入さ
れた後は回避され、フィルタ吸い口は高い湿潤状態に保
たれる。
この方法は、粉末が室１４の内面に付着した状態とする
。
以上、本発明による喫煙装置は、本流の煙の中に解放さ
れる物質を制御する装置を提供する。
くすぶっている間に熱分解および側流による吸入剤材料
の損失はまた減少する。
更に、かような喫煙装置は、外観において通常の紙巻タ
バコに非常に似ている。

Claims (1)

  1. 【特許請求の範囲】 １ 喫煙者の日中に煙霧質を解放する紙巻きタバコ擬似
    の喫煙装置であって、 （ａ）長手方向に延びる貫通通路を有する円筒状の燃料
    棒（ここで該通路の吸い口端から遠い方の端部は、燃料
    棒の燃焼中に少なくとも大気と連通している）、 （ｂ）前記通路の一端部とガス連通している、前記燃料
    棒の吸い口端部に位置する室、 （Ｃ）前記室の中に位置し、前記通路から前記室に吸い
    込まれる熱い喫煙ガスと接触したときに煙霧質を形成し
    うる、吸入剤材料、および（ｄ）前記室の前記燃料棒か
    ら遠い方の端部に位置する、煙霧質を透過しうる吸い口
    端閉鎖部材を有する喫煙装置。 ２ 前記室と前記吸い口閉鎖部材は、単一構造であり、
    前記吸入材料を含む室を作るために通常の喫煙フィルタ
    栓を成形または押出すことによって形成することができ
    る特許請求の範囲第１項に記載の装置。 ３ 前記燃料棒は、再生タバコおよび／またはタバコ代
    用品の成形品または押出品である特許請求の範囲第１項
    に記載の装置。 ４ 前記燃料棒の壁は、空気に対して不透過性である特
    許請求の範囲第３項に記載の装置。 ５ 前記吸入剤材料は、ニコチン源材料または噴霧乾燥
    した香味料顆粒を含むことができ、この香味料の組成が
    ４０〜７０重量％のアラビアゴムまたは変性澱粉中に包
    封されたトリアセチンまたは安息香酸ベンジル中の３０
    〜６０重量％の香味料溶液である特許請求の範囲第１項
    に記載の装置。 ６ 前記香味料材料は、またゼラチンとアラビアゴムの
    混合物中の５０〜８０重量％の香味料を含み、コアセル
    ベーション法で形成された微小カプセルを含む特許請求
    の範囲第５項に記載の装置。 ７ 点火されるべき燃料棒端部は、可燃部材によって閉
    鎖されている特許請求の範囲第１項乃至第６項のいずれ
    かに記載の装置。
