Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the coefft. of friction of the sliding body of a magnetic head and to prevent the damage of materials, by forming the sliding body which moves in contact with a magnetic recording medium or slides in a floated state with an org. material or an org. material contg. an inorg. material. CONSTITUTION:The sliding body 10-1 or 10-2 of a magnetic head which moves in contact with a magnetic recording medium or slides in a floated state is formed with an org. material or an org. material contg. an inorg. material. In case of the former org. material, a cast ABS resin block or an acetal resin block is cut and polished. In case of the latter org. material, a cured block of epoxy resin powder contg. 30% MoS2 or a cured block of phenolic resin contg. 20% fluorocarbon is cut and polished. Thus, the coefft. of friction is reduced, and the damage of the medium and head is prevented.

By using such a magnetic head, consideration has been given to making the flying height of the magnetic head as small as possible due to the rotation of the medium so as to achieve high density recording and reproduction of the medium to be recorded and reproduced. On the other hand, recently, in order to stably lower the flying height of the magnetic head, when the magnetic head is stopped, the magnetic head and the medium are brought into contact, and the magnetic head slides as the medium rotates. A so-called contact start/stop (hereinafter referred to as C8S) system in which the head flies has come to be used. In such a case, the medium is slid by the sliding body 1-1.1-2, so the special KjJ! As described above, the sliding body 10 made according to Examples 1 to 6
-1.10-2 and the conventional sliding body 1-1゜1-2 are slid on a medium by applying a predetermined pressure, and the friction forces are compared as shown in Table 1. As shown in the table, it is clear that the frictional force is lower than before. (In the table, - marks have not been measured.) Therefore,
As organic materials, thermosetting resins such as phenol resins, melamine resins, and epoxy resins, and thermoplastic resins such as styrene resins, fluororesins, polyimide resins, polycarbonate resins, acetal resins, and boriamide resins are used to form the sliding body 10-1. 10-2.

The lubricity can be improved by forming sliding bodies 10-1 and 10-2 by incorporating inorganic inclusions such as tungsten carbon dioxide and fatty acid esters. Further, in order to obtain a certain degree of hardness, it is also possible to contain inorganic compounds such as barium alumina titanate, silicon oxide, and fine metal particles, and the same effect can be obtained.

In the past, the slider surfaces IA and IOA collided with the medium when vibrating, especially when starting and stopping, causing scratches, but in the present invention, as described above, due to the low friction, the vibrations during connection sliding can be avoided. Even if vibration occurs, it is still flexible, so it is buffered and prevents scratches.

A comparison was made between the C8S method of starting and stopping the present invention and the conventional method, and in the conventional method, scratches occur after 20,000 to 30,000 times even when lubricant is applied to the medium. However, in the case of the present invention, even when no lubricant was applied to the medium, no scratches occurred even after 50,000 cycles.

As mentioned above, the flexibility and friction coefficient can be reduced, durability can be improved, etc. The KC8S method has the advantage of not requiring the application of lubricant, and the practical effects are excellent.
