Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 る。
ソリソドゴルフボールとしては、従来より内核芯とそれ
を被覆する外皮からなる２層構造のツーピースボールが
主流を占めているが、このボールは糸巻きボールに比べ
て耐カット性がすぐれているという長所を有するものの
、スピンがかかりにり＜、糸巻きボールのようなドライ
ハーショソト時のホソプする弾道を得ることや、ショー
トアイアン時にグリーン上でぴたりと止めることが難し
いといわれている。これは、このボールの慣性モーメン
トが大きいことと、外皮材質が硬く、ショツト時の変形
が少ないためボールとクラブフェースとの接触面積が小
さく、フェース上ですべりやすいためであると考えられ
る。
本発明はそのような欠点を解消するためになされたもの
であり、内核芯の比重を高め、慣性モーメントを小さく
してボールにバンクスピンがかがりやすくし、かつ外皮
の硬度を若干低めに規制してショツト時の変形を若干多
くしボールとクラブフェースとの接触面積を多くしてフ
ェース上でのすべりを少なくすることにより、ボールの
飛距離を伸ばし、かつコントロール性を改善すると共に
、内核芯と外皮との間に低比重の中間層を設けることに
よって重量面でもＰＧＡ規格に合格できるようにしたの
である。
すなわち、本発明は内核芯、中間層および外皮からなる
３層構造で、内核芯の直径が３２ｍｍ以下で比重が１．
５０以上であり、外皮材質の硬度がショアーＤ硬度計で
６４以下であることを特徴とするゴルフボールに関する
。
本発明のゴルフポールにおいて、内核芯の直径は前記の
ように３２ｍｍ以下とする。これは、慣性モーメントを
小さくするため内核芯を高比重型にしているので、内核
芯がそれ以上大きくなると重量がＰＧＡ規格に合格しに
くくなるためである。また内核芯の比重を１．５０以上
としたのは糸巻きポールなみにスピン量を高めホップす
る弾道を得、かつコントロール性を増したいという要請
に基づくものである。このような内核芯を得るためのゴ
ム組成物は従来のツーピースポール用の内核芯用組成物
より重量調整剤としての酸化亜鉛の配合を多くすること
によって容易に得ることができる。好ましい組成物例を
示すと、例えばポリブタジェンゴム１００部（重量部、
以下同様）、アクリル酸亜鉛またはメタクリル酸亜鉛１
０〜５０部、酸化亜鉛１０〜１５０部およびジクミルパ
ーオキサイド１〜５部からなる組成物である。
本発明のゴルフポールにおいて外皮材質の硬度はショア
ーＤ硬度計で６４以下とする。これはショツト時の変形
を従来より若干多くしてポールとクラブフェースとの接
触面積を多くしフェース上でのすべりを防止しようとい
う考えに基づくものである。このような条件を満たし得
る外皮材質としては例えばデュポン社より市販されてい
るアイオノマー樹脂す−リン１６５２　（商品名）、サ
ーリン１６０１（商品名）などがあげられる。なお外皮
用組成物においては着色などの目的で上記アイオノマー
樹脂に二酸化チタン、酸化亜鉛などを適宜配合すること
ができる。
本発明において中間層は内核芯を高比重にしたため、そ
れによってボール重量が増加しＰＧＡ規格に合格できな
くなるのを防止するために設けられたものであり、内核
芯より低比重にされる。具体的には重Ｎ調整剤としての
酸化亜鉛の配合を内核芯の場合より少なくするか、ある
いは酸化亜鉛の配合量を皆無にすることによって達成さ
れる。
この中間層の比重をどの程度にするかは内核芯の比重を
どの程度にしたかによって異なる。また厚さも内核芯の
直径、外皮の厚さく通常１〜３　ｍｍ）によって異なる
が通常は３．２〜５．４　ｍｍの範囲から選ばれる。こ
のような中間層用の好ましい組成例を例示すると、例え
ばポリブタジェンゴム１００部、アクリル酸亜鉛または
メタクリル酸亜鉛１０〜５０部、酸化亜鉛０〜３０部お
よびジクミルパーオキサイド１〜５部からなるゴム組成
物である。
本発明のゴルフボールを製造する方法は特に限定される
ものではないが、例えば内核芯用ゴム組成物を金型で加
熱加圧成形し、その周囲を半球殻状に成形した２枚の中
間層用組成物で包み、金型で加熱加圧成形したのち、さ
らにその周囲を半球殻状に成形した２枚の外皮用組成物
で包み高温で短時間加熱加圧成形する方法が採用される
。また外皮用組成物を射出成形して中間層を包み込んで
もよい。なお内核芯に中間層を被覆、加圧成形するにあ
たって、内核芯の表面をパフした方が接着しやすい。ま
た中間層と外皮との密着のためにも中間層の表面をパフ
する方が好ましい。
つぎに実施例をあげて本発明を説明する。
実施例１および比較例１〜５ 第１表に示す配合により直径４１．２ｍｍの６種類のゴ
ルフボールを作製し、それらの諸元を第１表に示した。
３層構造のボール、すなわち実施例１、比較例１、比較
例３および比較例４のボールでは、内核芯を金型中１６
０°Ｃで２５分間加熱加圧成形したのち、その周囲を半
球殻状に成形した２枚の中間層用組成物で包み、さらに
金型中１６５°Ｃで３０分間加熱加圧成形した。外皮層
は半球殻状に成形した２枚の外皮用組成物を内核芯また
は内核芯上の中間層に被覆し、金型巾約１７０℃で２分
間加熱加圧成形して形成した。なお内核芯に中間層を被
覆、加圧成形するにあたって内核芯の表面をパフし、ま
た外皮の被覆に際して中間層の表面または内核芯の表面
をパフした。
（注）１．打撃試験はツルーテンパー社製スイングロボ
ットに４３インチドライバーを取付しノ、ヘッドスピー
ド４５．１±０．２ｍ／秒で打撃することによって行な
った。スピン量は写真撮影により算出した。
２、外皮配合は表に記載のサーリン（商品名、デュポン
社製アイオノマー樹脂）１００部に二酸化チタン２部を
配合した。
３、慣性モーメントはボールを長さ１２０印の針金で吊
したバスケット内に入れ、８回転ねじり、そこで手を離
し、回転周期を測定し、その３回の平均値をめ、 次式によりめた。

８βπ 第１表に示すように、内核芯を高比重Ｇこした実施例１
のボールは、従来のツーピースボールである比較例２の
ボールに比べてスピン量が多く、比較例５の糸巻きボー
ルに近い弾道を得ることができ、飛距離が大きかった。
これに対し比較例１のボールは実施例１のボール同様に
３層構造であるが、内核芯の比重が小さいためスピン量
が少なく、そのため弾道が低く、飛距離も少なかった。
また比較例３のボールは外皮の硬度が高いため、スピン
量が所望値まで向上せず、その結果、弾道力（低く、飛
距離が少なかった。なお比較例４のボールは内核芯が大
きすぎるため、重量がＰＧＡ規格に合格せず、そのため
ボール特性は測定しなかった。
以上詳述したように、本発明のゴルフボールはソリッド
ボールの特徴であるすぐれた耐力・ノド性を保持しなが
ら、糸巻きボールと同程度の飛距離およびコントロール
性を発揮することができる。

形したのち、得られた内核芯の周囲を外皮用組成物から
形成した一対の半球殻体で包み、金型巾約１７０℃で２
分間加熱加圧成形することにより作製した。また比較例
５の糸巻きボールは糸巻芯を外皮用組成物から形成した
一対の半球殻体で包め、金型巾約１５０℃で２分間加熱
加圧成形することによって作製した。」と補正する。

  1. ■、内核芯、中間層および外皮からなる３層構造で、内
    核芯の直径が３２ｍｍ以下で比重が１．５０以上であり
    、外皮材質の硬度がショアーＤ硬度針で６４以下である
