Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 この発明は摩擦溶接型ファスナ、特に、中心部に熱活性
接着剤を有し、木材や塗装面のような面に対する接着力
を強化した摩擦溶接型ファスナに関する。
米国特許第4,477.507号に開示された摩擦溶接
システムでは、木材−?塗装金属面に対して適切な接着
が行なわnない。そのような面に対する接着特性を増大
させる一つの周知の方法は摩擦溶接ファスナの中心部に
熱活性(ホントメルト)接着剤を加えることである。フ
ァスナのベースに対し、軸方向に回転力を加えると、接
着剤が溶融して摩擦溶接面を横切って広がる。この溶融
した熱活性接着剤の拡がりは1回転中に接着剤上に作用
する遠心力によって引き起さnる。
この発明は溶融した熱活性接着剤を、摩擦溶接面を横切
って均一に分配させる装置に向げら几ている。この発明
の原理によγ乙ば、この分配装置は回転軸からのいろい
ろな半径方向距離におけろ摩擦溶接面上に配置した複数
のそらせ板セグメントヲ含んでいる。ベース部材の形状
と複数のそらせ板セグメントの厚さは次の様にきめろ几
でいる。即ちベース部材の回転軸から発出して各遮断そ
らせ板セグメントの外側縁を通過するどの仮想垂線も最
内側のそらせ板セグメントの外側縁を通過する半径方向
水平面よりは下方に展開させる様にしである。
以下、この発明の実施例を図面を参照して説明する。
第1図で10は単体型の熱可塑性ファスナアセンプvp
t示す。このファスナアセンブリ10は摩擦溶接ファス
ナ部材 /コとシャンク型ファスナ部材/ダからなる。
シャンク型ファスナ部材/クハ、と〜では本出願人の米
国特許第5.8+0.279号に記載されているものを
示した。
ファスナ部材/ダは放射状に延びる複数の可屍翼/gが
付いた中心ステム/6を有する。中心ステムの先端部に
はテーバ付き鼻部Jが一体に形成してあって、ステムを
開口内へ案内するようになっている。ファスナ部材/グ
は、可撓翼/g乞パネルの孔の内壁に弾力的に係合させ
、孔からファスナが抜は出ないようにしてパネルに据え
付けらγしる。ファスナ部材l弘は図示のものに限定さ
几ず、パネルなどのワークに取付げることができるもの
であ几ばよい。
摩擦溶接ファスナ部材/2は、スピン溶接型ファスナー
?摩擦溶接型ファス尤とし℃一般的に知ら几ている。フ
ァスナ/コは外周から放射状に突出する一対の耳部2コ
を有する。この耳部はファスナ部材2同転駆動させるた
めにぜい器状に連結されて居り、このことに付いて本出
願人の米国特許第4,477.507号に記載さγして
いる。
この摩擦溶接ファスナ部材/−は、熱可塑性材から概ね
円形に成形した円形のベース部材2弘ヲ含む。ベース部
材Jには、一体の頂壁26があり、この頂壁の中心部に
ファスナ/lのステム/6が一体的に連結しである。
頂壁2乙の反対面上には摩擦溶接面2gが形成しである
。摩擦溶接面2gの中心部には凹部30があ・す、この
凹部3θ内には熱活性接着剤の小球J−が取付けてあっ
て、摩擦溶接面コを越えて突出する。熱活性接着剤は熱
可塑性ベース/コに対しても、またそnY接着する基体
に対しても良好な接合親和力を有する。小球3:tの軸
方向の寸法(以下高さと云う)は凹部30より大きく、
かつ摩擦溶接面コな超えて突出し、好ましくは摩擦溶接
プロセス開始前に溶融するものがよい。
ナイロンからなるベース部材と、ターポリマ6ニラスト
マ基体との間の接合用の良好な熱活性接着剤は、エポキ
シ樹脂とポリアミド潜触媒との組合せである。
熱硬化展着剤のもう一つの例は、米国登録商標アキュセ
インUR,1100であるが、この接着剤はエイテ、ビ
ー、フラー社によって製造されているウレタン、プレポ
リマである。この接着剤はナイロン、エポキシ、?MC
%ポリエステル、、?MCおよび金属面のような基体へ
の接合用に意図されている。
摩擦溶接のさい、ファスナ、アセンブリ10が−高速で
回転させら几るので、この発明では熱活性接着剤の小球
3二が、ベース部材l二から振り払わ几ないようにする
だめの装置と、熱活性接着剤を摩擦溶接面Hの端部にま
で均一に分配するだめの装置とを設ける。接着剤分配装
置は、摩−擦溶接面コと交わってそらせ板セグメントv
形成する配置で設けである。第1図と第2図における好
ましい実施例において、そらせ板セグメントハ、摩擦溶
接面コの中心部分と、前記面の周縁に隣接する点との間
にめぐらせである連続−した渦巻形リブ侵の形で示しで
ある。
熱活性接着剤3.2が遠心力により外方へ駆動されてい
るさいに、そ几の小部分を遮断するため   1に、渦
巻形リブ俊の各ループには周縁部グコがあり、この周縁
部侵は1回転軸B−Bから発出する仮想垂線により遮断
さ几るが、こ−でこの仮想垂線は渦巻形リブ侵の内側端
部分の外周縁を通過する半径方向水平面の%AI度下方
にある。
この配置により、渦巻形リブeoの各継続ルーブグコは
溶融した熱活性接着剤3二が、遠心力により一ペース部
材/コの周縁に向って駆動さnでいるさいに、前記溶融
した熱活性接着剤の部分を遮断することがわかる。
角度%AIヲ形成するには二つの方法がある。
第1図の実施例では、この角度は、一定高さの一渦巻形
リブ<yy有し、かつ、ベース部材/2の摩擦係合面x
’4僅かに凹面になるように形成して、そ几の周縁部が
、摩擦溶接面コの中心点を通る半径方向水平面より低く
なるようにすることによって形成さnる。この角度%A
Iはへよ0と云−5オーダーのごく小さいものである。
角度’A’Y形成するもう一つの方法は摩擦溶接面Mf
その中心点を通る半径方向水平面上に形成し、つまり凹
面にせず、真平らにし、渦巻きの各ループを外側のルー
プはど僅かに下向きに厚くなるように渦巻形リブmy構
成することである。
熱活性剤3:iの漏出を防止し、かつ摩擦係合面2gの
外周縁を基体に確実に固着させておくために、摩擦係合
面コの外径と等しい径の円形壁部−材ないしスカー)4
(≠を、摩擦溶接面d上に一体的に形成する。この壁部
材は渦巻形リブの周縁部qコの最も厚い部分よりも厚く
する。
接着剤を遮断するだめのそらせ板装置は多種多様の形状
のものでよい。例えば、そT1−ハ、−一連の同心円形
壁部材から成るか、または、中心から異なる半径方向距
離に位置させた一連の離γした弧状セグメントから成っ
ていてもよい。その他の代替形状は一連の方形または三
角形壁部材でもよい。
以上1本発明の詳細な説明したが、本発明は図示の実施
例に限定さ几ず、特許請求の範囲に記載の技術思想に則
り、種々に設計を変更して実施することができる。

Claims (7)

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. (1)摩擦溶接面を有するベース部材と、前記ベース部
    材の回転軸を中心として前記摩擦溶接面の中心部に固着
    させた熱活性接着剤と、前記摩擦溶接面上の前記回転軸
    からの複数の半径方向距離に一体的に形成された複数の
    そらせ板セグメントとを含む単体型熱可塑性ファスナに
    おいて、 前記ベース部材の形状、および前記複数の そらせ板セグメントの厚さが、前記回転軸から発出して
    、各遮断されたそらせ板セグメントの外周縁を通過する
    どの仮想垂線も最内側のそらせ板セグメントの外周縁を
    通過する半径方向水平面の下方に延びるのを可能にする
    よう選ばれているファスナ。
  2. (2)特許請求の範囲(1)の単体型熱可塑性ファスナ
    であり、更に、前記ベース部材の周囲をめぐつて形成さ
    れた一体的なスカート部分を含み、前記スカート部分の
    厚さが、前記スカート部分が前記どの仮想垂線によつて
    も遮断されて前記熱活性接着剤の漏出を防止するよう選
    ばれているファスナ。
  3. (3)特許請求の範囲(1)の単体型熱可塑性ファスナ
    において、前記複数のそらせ板セグメントの厚さは一定
    で、前記ベース部材が、前記摩擦溶接面をわずかに凹面
    形状で形成するような形状となつているファスナ。
  4. (4)特許請求の範囲(1)の単体型熱可塑性ファスナ
    において、前記複数のそらせ板セグメントが、前記摩擦
    溶接面の前記中心部分から、外周縁に隣接する位置まで
    めぐらせてある連続した渦巻形リブにより形成されてい
    るファスナ。
  5. (5)摩擦溶接面を有する円形ベース部材と、前記摩擦
    溶接面の中心部で前記ベース部材の回転軸を中心として
    埋設された熱活性接着剤の小球と、前記摩擦溶接面上に
    一体的に形成されていて、前記中心部から前記ベース部
    材の周縁に隣接した位置へめぐらせてある渦巻形そらせ
    板リブとを含む単体型熱可塑性ファスナであつて、前記
    ベース部材の形状、および前記らせん形そらせ板リブの
    長さに沿つた厚さが、前記回転軸から発生して前記渦巻
    形そらせ板リブの各ループの外周縁を通過するどの仮想
    垂線も、前記渦巻形そらせ板リブの内側端部の外周線を
    通過する半径方向水平面の下方へ延びるのを可能にする
    よう選ばれているファスナ。
  6. (6)特許請求の範囲(5)の単体型熱可塑性ファスナ
    であり、更に、前記円形ベース部材の周縁をめぐつて一
    体的に形成されたスカート部分を含み、前記スカート部
    分の厚さが、前記スカート部分が前記どの仮想垂線によ
    つても遮断されて前記熱活性接着剤の漏出を防止するよ
    う選ばれているファスナ。
  7. (7)特許請求の範囲(5)の単体型熱可塑性ファスナ
    において、前記渦巻形そらせ板リブが一定の厚さになつ
    ていて、前記ベース部材が、前記摩擦溶接面を僅かに凹
    面形に形成するような形状となつているファスナ。
