Conventionally, the base material used to manufacture electrical contacts for connectors has been prepared using a copper alloy base material such as phosphor bronze in order to improve the adhesiveness of the solder when soldering the connector terminals and lead wires after the mold is assembled. A thin solder plated plate is used.
Further, when electrical contacts for connectors are continuously and automatically mass-produced, a hoop-shaped base material must be used, and therefore solder plating is applied to the entire surface of the hoop-shaped base material.

On the other hand, when welding the electrical contact material to the base material,
Generally, projection welding is used to stabilize the weld and strengthen the joint, but since the surface of the base material is plated with solder, if you try to weld by sandwiching it between the upper and lower electrodes, the projection welding will fail. It sinks into the soft solder plating, and the contact area between the projection and the solder plating changes greatly due to variations in the thickness of the solder plating and the clamping force of the upper and lower electrodes, making the welding conditions inconsistent. As a result, not only welding defects occurred, but also stable joint strength could not be obtained. For this reason, as shown in Fig. 1, an electrical contact material 3 is used in which the joint surface of the contact material 1 is clad with a material 2 with good weldability. Since the hoop-shaped contact material is supplied from a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction and welding, cutting, or cutting and welding is performed, there is a problem that the welding position is large.

The present invention has been made in view of these circumstances, and it is an object of the present invention to provide a method of manufacturing an electrical contact for a connector, which allows the contact material and the base material to be always welded at a fixed position, and which has stable bonding strength without welding defects. That is.

In the method of manufacturing an electrical contact for a connector according to the present invention, as shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, the surface of a hoop-shaped base material 4' on which solder plating 5 is applied is continuously supplied, at least at regular intervals. Solder plating is removed to form a recess 6, and contact metal is applied to the surface layer 7 and contact metal is applied to the lower layer 8 with a width corresponding to the recess 6 from a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the hoop-shaped base material 4'. In the method of manufacturing an electrical contact for a connector of the present invention, a hoop-shaped base material 4' applied to the solder plating 5
There are two types of recesses 6 formed at regular intervals on the surface of the board: recesses formed by grinding only the solder plating layer, and recesses formed by grinding the base including the solder plating layer to a certain depth. It is also possible to have a concave portion. The reason why the recess 6 is formed on the surface of the hoop-shaped base material 4' having the solder plating 5 in this way is to keep the welding conditions constant and to fit the contact material 9 in the welding process. In other words, this is to firmly bond the contact material 9 and the base material 4' at a fixed position so that they will not come off during use. On the other hand, the reason why a clad material with a contact metal in the surface layer and Cu or Cu alloy in the lower layer is used as the contact material 9 is that regardless of the weldability of the contact metal in the surface layer in the base material recess 6,
This is to ensure stable welding at all times using Cu or Cu alloy, which has good weldability.

If the thickness of the Cu or Cu alloy is made to correspond to the depth of the base material recess 6, the lower layer 8 of the Cu or Cu alloy will be exposed on the surface as shown in Fig. 2 when the contact is formed after welding. First, the contact material can be made of a surface layer 7 made entirely of contact metal. Further, the shape of the base material recess 6 and the shape of the corresponding contact material 9 are not limited to those shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, but may have a cross-sectional shape as shown in FIG. 4a, for example. Something,
When this is welded and then formed, it becomes the cross-sectional shape shown in FIG. 4b.
