Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain an RFeB permanent magnet having a high magnet characteristic by sintering a molded body of a particular rare earth permanent magnet in an atmosphere of calcium vapor including metal calcium of 1pt.wt. or more for the molded body of 100pts.wt. CONSTITUTION:A formula: Rx Fey Mz Bn R is a rare earth element including yttrium (M is a transition metal; x, y, z and n indicate weight percentage of the following relation, 28<=x<=32.5, 64<=y<=72, 0<=z<=20 and 0.8<=n<=1.5). A molded body of rare earth permanent magnet indicated by the above formula is sintered under the ambience of calcium vapor. A molded body of permanent magnet is formed by the following process that a metal mixture of such structure is melted by the high frequency heating and is then cooled, thereafter the cooled body is finely-ground into fine particles of severalmum or less with a grinding means such as a jet mill, and this fine particles are press-moded with pressure under the external magnetic field condition. The molded body is set on a heat resistant tray and is then sintered under the ambience of calcium vapor. Thereby, a permanent magnet having a high magnetic characteristic is effectively and easily manufactured.
