Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I (R is lower alkyl or cyclohexyl; X is H, halogen, nitro or lower haloalkyl; m is 1W4).
EXAMPLE: 2,4,6-Tribromo-2',4'-dinitro-6'-t-butyl-diphenylamine.
USE: An antifouling agent against aquatic life. It exhibits excellent effect especially against barnacle, serpula and Soletellina diphos. The antifouling effect can be safely maintained over a long period at a low concentration of the active component without using an organic compound.
PREPARATION: The compound of formula I can be produced by reacting anilines of formula II with halobenzenes of formula III (Y is halogen) in a solvent (e.g. dimethylformamide-toluene) in the presence of an acid accepter (e.g. NaOH) at -20W+200°C.
