Abstract

PURPOSE:To extremely easily make an original plate with images drawn thereon, by providing on a water-resistant base an image-receiving layer comprising a leuco dye, a color developer and a hydrophilic resin as main constituents dispersed in an aqueous resin capable of forming a water-resistant coated film. CONSTITUTION:An original plate material is produced by providing on a water- resistant base an image-receiving layer comprising an ordinarily colorless or somewhat light-colored leuco dye, a color developer capable of developing the dye into a color when being heated and a hydrophilic pigment as main constituents dispersed in an aqueous resin capable of becoming water-resistant upon forming a coated film. When thermal energy is applied to the image- receiving layer of the plate material directly by a thermal head according to a manuscript or a signal, the property of the surface of the image-receiving layer at the energy-applied parts is changed from hydrophilic to hydrophobic. Therefore, a planographic original plate with the images drawn directly thereon can be produced from the original plate material.
