Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:A 2-(R)-Halogeno-4-phenyllactic acid derivative expressed by formula I (R is H or protecting group or carboxyl group; X is Br or Cl). EXAMPLE:2-(R)-Bromo-4-phenyllactic acid. USE:Useful as a raw material for production of N-substituted -L-amino acid derivative which is a synthetic intermediate useful as an angiotensin conversion enzyme inhibiting agent, etc. The above-mentioned N-substituted-L-amino acid derivative is obtained by reacting an optically active L-amino acid derivative with a novel compound expressed by formula I. PREPARATION:N-Carbamoyl-2-(R)-amino-4-phenyllactic acid is treated with a diazotizing agent and halogenating agent under acidic conditions. Then the resultant product is esterified to provide the compound expressed by formula I. As the diazotizing agent, sodium nitrite, etc., is used at an amount of >=2 equivalent base on the compound expressed by formula II and the halogenating agent is preferably used at an amount of 1-10 equivalent.
