Abstract

PURPOSE:To easily obtain a backward playback audio output which can be listened to even during backward reproduction by writing a backward playback demodulated audio signal in a memory circuit every fields and reading it every fields in the reverse order at the time of reading operation. CONSTITUTION:The backward playback demodulated audio signal inputted to an input terminal 1 is inputted to an A/D converting circuit 5 and converted into serial A/D converting circuit output data, which is written in the memory circuit 6 every field periods in order. This writing operation is carried on until a soundless part detecting circuit 8 generates a detection pulse when a soundless part of the backward playback demodulated audio signal continues for longer than a predetermined period. When the soundless part detecting circuit 8 detects the soundless part, the audio signal stored in the memory circuit 6 is outputted every field period in the reverse order. Consequently, even when the audio signal which is recorded by using a rotary head is reproduced backward, the audio playback signal which can be listened to is obtained.
