Abstract

PURPOSE: To suppress formation of by-products and obtain the titled compound useful as a metal extracting agent, additive for oils, etc., by reacting primary diamines with nitroalkanes and formaldehyde while specifying ratio of the respective raw materials used and temperature within specific ranges.
CONSTITUTION: A compound expressed by formula I (A is bifunctional acrylic or cyclic aliphatic group or bifunctional aromatic group) (e.g. 1,6-diaminohexane) is reacted with a compound expressed by formula II (R is R' are H or 1W12C alkyl) (e.g. 2-nitropropane) in a molar amount of ≥1.8 times based on the compound expressed by formula I and formaldehyde in a molar amount of 1.8W2.2 times based on the compound expressed by formula I at ≤80°C temperature to afford the aimed compound expressed by formula III, e.g. N,N'-bis(2-methyl-2- nitropropyl)-1,6-diaminohexane.
