Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain 2'-deoxycytidine useful as a raw material for 2',3'- dideoxycytidine known as a remedy for AIDS, in high efficiency, by reacting 2'-deoxyribose-1-phosphoric acid or its salt with cytosine in the presence of a specific microorganism. CONSTITUTION:2'-Deoxyribonucleoside (2'-deoxyadenosine, etc.) or 2'- deoxyribose-1-phosphoric acid present in the hydrolyzed product of DNA (excluding 2'-deoxycytidine) is made to react with cytosine in an aqueous medium containing a microbial strain belonging to Achromobacter genus, Aeromonas genus, etc., and capable of producing 2'-deoxycytidine from cytosine and 2'- deoxyribose-1-phosphoric acid or its salt, e.g. Achromobacter viscosus ATCC-12448.
