Abstract

PURPOSE:To supply a high-efficiency and low-cost converter by a method wherein it is constituted by alumina borosilicate whose glass transition point and gradually cooling point are higher than a temperature used to form individual semiconductor layers and whose alkali content is set below a specific value. CONSTITUTION:Cadmiun chloride acting as a fusing agent is added to a CdS powder; a CdS paste 2 is prepared; this paste is printed on a support substrate 1 and is dried. This assembly is baked; a first semiconductor layer 3 is formed. Then, a Cd powder and a Te powder are crushed in the water; after that, a CdCl2 powder is added to a dried mixture; a CdTe printing paste 4 is applied on the CdS sintered film 3 on the glass substrate 1 and is dried. This substrate is baked; a second semiconductor layer 5 is formed. A carbon paste 6 is printed on the CdTe sintered film 5, dried and sintered, a carbon electrode film 7 to take out an ohmic electrode from the CdTe sintered film 5 is formed. An Ag electrode 8 is screen-printed on the carbon electrode film 7; an Ag-In electrode 9 is screen-printed on the CdS sintered film 3; after that, this assembly is heat- treated; a CdS/CdTe-based solar cell is manufactured.
