Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve service life characteristics, by providing a CdTe film with an electrode consisting mainly of electro-conductive carbon, in a joint between an n- type CdS film and a p-type CdTe film.
CONSTITUTION: A CdS paste, which is prepared by mixing of CdS powder and powder of anhydrous CdCl2 uniformly and addition of an organic bonding agent, is printed on a glass plate 1 and it, after being vacuum dried, is calcined in an inert gas to form an n-type CdS film 2. And then, non-acceptor-containing CdTe powder together with less than 5% of CdCl2 powder is printed on the film 2 in the same manner, and it is calcined to form a CdTe film 3 and then to prepare a hetero junction layer. Now, graphite powder is prepared into slurry state together with carbinol and print-coated on the film 3, it is heat-treated to form a graphite electrode 4, and a lead wire is taken out by Ag paint 5. On CdS side, a lead wire is taken out from In-Sn soldered electrode 6 and sealed by clear resin 7. It is possible, in this mechanism, to obtain a solar cell of high efficiency, high stability and long service life.
