Abstract

PURPOSE:To convert the titled product and excess organosilane into inert and nonadehsive solid product and simplify the waste treatment, by hydrolyzing a product having high boiling point in production of organohalosilane together with a specific compound. CONSTITUTION:A product (e.g. triphenylchlorosilane) having high boiling point produced in production of organohalosilane is hydrolyzed together with a compound selected from an organohalosilane and tetrahalosilane. Further more, when water or an aqueous solution of hydrochloric acid is used as the aqueous liquid for hydrolysis, it is preferable, since chlorine in the product having high boiling point and organohalosilane/tetrahalosilane can be recovered as hydrochloric acid. Further, when an aqueous alkali solution is used, neutralization process in the latter stage is obviated.
