Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the titled ferroelectric composition, containing a specific liquid crystal compound, having high speed of response and contrast ratio, capable of exhibiting excellent optical characteristics and suitable as optical liquid crystal shutters, high multiplex liquid crystal displays, etc. CONSTITUTION:The aimed composition containing at least one component of respective compounds expressed by formulas I-V [R1-R5 are 4-14C alkyl or alkoxy; formula VI is formulas VII-IX; n is 0-10; m is 1-12; X is C=0 or (CH2)n]. Furthermore, the preferred blending ratio is 2-90wt.% compound expressed by formula I, 1-50wt.% compound expressed by formula II, 1-50wt.% compound expressed by formula III, 1-50wt.% compound expressed by formula IV and 1-30wt.% compound expressed by formula V.
