Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a drip-preventing agent comprising a composition consisting essentially of a chloroprene rubber containing a flame retardant and capable of being imparted to semi-synthetic or synthetic fibers to prevent the drip of their melted product or ash on combustion. CONSTITUTION: This drip-preventing agent contains a chloroprene rubber having a mol.wt. of about 20,000 to 1,000,000 and a flame retardant auxiliary such as hexabromobenzene or antimony trioxide particles having particle diameters of <=50 μm in an amount of 50-250 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of the chloroprene rubber. The drip-preventing agent is impregnated in or coated on semi-synthetic or synthetic fibers to prevent the drip of their thermally melted product or ash on combustion. The addition of an acid-absorbing agent such as magnesium oxide to the drip-preventing agent furthermore improves the flame retardancy.
