Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled polyester having excellent transparency and resistance to permeation of gas and suitable as a wrapping material, by polycondensing a dicarboxylic component containing isophthalic component unit and dicarboxylic acid component unit expressed by the specific formula at a definite ratio with a diol component. CONSTITUTION:A dicarboxylic acid component containing (A) isophthalic acid or ester-forming derivative thereof and (B) dicarboxylic acid (preferably 2,2'- oxydiacetic acid or 2,2'-iminodiacetic acid) expressed by the formula (R<1> and R<2> are divalent aliphatic or aromatic group) or ester-forming derivative thereof at a molar ratio of diol components A/B of 50-99/50-1 is polycondensed with a diol component to provide the aimed polyester. Further more, the aimed polyester has preferably 0.4-2 intrinsic viscosity [value measured at 30 deg.C using a mixed solvent having weight ratio of phenol/tetrachloroethane of 1/1].
